Are you the kind of tech who can tell ten black cats apart by their purrs alone? Do you light up at the sight of an elderly tabby curling up for meds like it’s a spa treatment? If so, you might be the missing piece of our feline sanctuary family.

We’re looking for a skilled Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or experienced veterinary nurse with a heart for geriatric cat care. This position involves medication administration, observation for illness, light cleaning, grooming, and assisting in maintaining a serene and loving environment for a clowder of deeply spoiled, deeply loved cats—many of whom are over the age of 15.

You’ll be joining a small, close-knit team with over 30 years of combined experience in feline care. We are passionate, detail-oriented, and bonded by our love for cats. The sanctuary’s owner, Susan, has been caring for community and feral cats for nearly five decades, offering them a second life filled with comfort, healing, and high-quality care. Her home, located on Warwick Neck, is a private residence—but don’t be fooled: these cats are among the best cared for in the state, often living to 17 or 18 years thanks to her devotion.

šŸˆā€ā¬› Job Details:

  • Shifts: Minimum of one morning/week (9–12 AM, but flexible) and 1–2 evening shifts/month (7–9 PM). More hours may be available to cover vacations.

  • Pay: Starts at a training rate with a range from $15–$24/hour depending on experience and responsibilities.

  • Duties include:

    • Administering oral, injectable and topical medications

    • Recognizing and documenting health or behavior changes

    • Light cleaning and prep work (picking up dishes, preparing meds)

    • Grooming (brushing, nail trims)

    • Compassionate, calm handling of older and under-socialized cats

Training will be hands-on alongside experienced staff including the sanctuary manager, with eventual independence on select shifts. You’ll never be thrown into the deep end unprepared.

šŸ’¬ What to Expect:

This isn’t your typical clinic gig. It’s quieter, slower, deeply rewarding, and often emotional. The cats know when someone’s caring for them—and over time, they’ll show you their gratitude in ways that will break and rebuild your heart.

While the sanctuary is a peaceful haven for the cats, it is still someone's home, and we strive to respect both privacy and the sensitive nature of rescue work. Political neutrality is appreciated—this is a job for animal lovers, not debaters. Come ready to work with dignity, discretion, and a whole lot of love.
