Overnight Petsitter Needed for Paralyzed Dog

Do you have a soft spot for dogs with a lot of sass and zero patience? Are you comfortable with hands-on, compassionate care, and don’t mind a little bodily function management in exchange for unconditional love and a cozy guest room? Meet Maisy—a fiercely independent, wheelchair-loving cocker-poodle mix who’s looking for her next overnight buddy while her human, Mandy, travels in early July.

🐶 Meet Maisy:

• Small-to-medium size (but big attitude)

• Paralyzed hind legs, gets around by dragging herself unless harnessed into her wheelchair for walks

• Not currently on medication (subject to change), but needs bladder expression multiple times per day

• Has a special technique for stimulating bowel movements (yes, it involves an ice cube—but you’ll be trained)

• Prone to UTIs, so attentive care is a must

• Loves to snuggle in bed with you—diapers provided for overnight prevention, washer/dryer available for any accidents

🏡 The Gig:

• Location: Cranston, RI

• Dates: July 4th-11th, 2025, possible additional dates in the future if goes well!

• Preference given to sitters who can stay overnight in Mandy’s guest room

• Walks in the neighborhood using Maisy’s wheelchair are encouraged—she enjoys them and will absolutely boss you around if you’re too slow

• Compensation: Paid, rate negotiable depending on experience

• A meet-and-greet is required in advance to ensure it’s a good fit for all three parties (yes, Maisy gets a vote)

Maisy isn’t for everyone, but for the right person, she’s a total heart-stealer. You’ll be providing meaningful, dignified care for a dog who’s been through a lot—and knows exactly what she wants. If you’ve got experience with special needs pets, or are open to learning and not squeamish about up-close care, you might just be her next favorite human.
